Let The Games Begin !

It seems that everyone is throwing Ralph Lauren under the bus for his choice to let China manufacture his design of the U.S. Olympic uniform.  Although they are extremely attractive, I must also push Mr. Lauren under those wheels. Mr. Lauren’s styles have for years been the epitome of the American way of life. His ads included some of the most homespun iconic images. But, has the line been manufactured in China long before the Olympics ? Seems so according to a lot of news sites out there. I was recently with a family member that is an ex-Marine (if there really is ever an ex) and Vietnam War Veteran. He is also a member of the NRA. A pocket knife he purchased from the NRA was made in China and a U.S. Marine’s cap and t-shirt he also purchased were manufactured in Vietnam. This is a slap in the face to all hard working Americans and a disastrous trade policy that has cost us millions of jobs. Of course this is just my opinion.

Lace shorts. What can I say. These are the hottest trend going right now and they look amazing. Very feminine, very sexy, very cool !

Whether you choose a vintage look, high waist or rompers, they are extremely cute and you can get them on the cheap too enabling you to get more that one pair.

The Sun Rises In The East.

Anyone that knows me, knows I am fixated with sunglasses.  They make a big statement and say alot about the person wearing them. This year I am in L O V E with my Tom Ford – Nikita’s.  Sometimes you just want to be a spy, or at least look like one 🙂

Their are many beautiful styles out there this year, and many are surprisingly resonably priced.  You can also find “look-a-likes” of many designers even more on the cheap. Yes, the sun does rise on my beautiful east coast !

How Sweet It Is.

Unless you have been living under a rock, candy colors are the rage for this summer.  I for one am loving this trend.  After seeing blacks and jewel tones from the winter my eyes are feasting on these colors.  And, fortunately they look good on everyone.  But do remember, just because they make it in your size doesn’t mean you should wear it.  Keep your body shape in mind as pick the silhouette.  Summer sherbert, colorful cocktails and sugary candies….mmmmm…how sweet it is !

The Cat Wouldn’t Even Bring This In.

I thought that the wearing pajamas out trend was ending its awful reign.  It appears that I am wrong unfortunately.  Also, on that same train is girls (young ladies) saying that if their boyfriends really loved them they would accept their laid back looks, ie. no makeup and those dreaded sweats.  Ladies, let me ask you this.  If your man was in a constant state of dishevel, would you let it pass or would you speak up ?  Remember this, you are dating, you are not married 25 years.  Both of you can easily catch the eye of someone else.  This is your boyfriend not your mum, not your little brother.  You looked your best when you caught each other in the beginning, shouldn’t you put about 5 minutes into letting him see you presentable.  We are not talking glam-fairy here, we are talking a little mascara, if you have to, pull your hair into a pony, a clean t-shirt and jeans.  Please ladies, I am so tired of seeing this really cute guy that takes a little pride in how the world sees him with ‘pajama girl’.  Remember the woo-hoo girls ?  Hummm….is this her on her dates ?

Does This Make My Butt Look Big ?

Not everyone can get away with having a big butt.  Sometimes it’s just big. Just because you may be a little more curvaceous doesn’t mean you need to give up skirts. Opt for skirts or dresses that have an a-line cut. An a-line cut is simply a skirt that is smaller around the waist and gently flares out, much like the letter “A.” By wearing a cut like this, it will minimize your middle region, including your rear view. Choose slacks and jeans that have wide legs, no pants that taper at the ankles. This makes your ankles and calves appear smaller while enhancing the size of your bottom, which is the opposite of the effect you are trying to achieve. Pick slacks and jeans that remain wide towards the calf and ankles, like flare or boot-cut pants. Overall, the best minimizing effect is to enhance your upper half with bright, flattering colors while keeping your lower half darker.  Not rocket science just color science.

2011 Summer Sizzlers

What are the top picks for a sizzling summer this year ?  We all, yes the guys too, want to keep cool while looking good.  Summer is the time for showing a lot of skin while still keeping in line the the HR departments where we work.  A soft cotton shrug or breezy silk shirt over our sexy summer tops enable us to make the quick change once 5:00 rolls around.  A tousled updo is definately on the list, there is nothing hotter than messy summer hair to turn heads.  Guys need to make the sock decision.  Sockless looks good with the right shoes.  A  great pair of slip ons in canvas or a nice leather pair of Dockers are the best picks.  If your guy does opt for wearing socks, make sure he switches to a lighter weight cotton one.  Period, cotton  breathes.  And don’t forget shorts. The right kind of shorts can draw major attention to a guy.  Now back to the ladies.  Natural makup.  Try wearing as little as possible to let your skin breath.  Face bronzers and spray tans have allowed us to look  dewy and natural all summer.  Stripes, bold colors, and last but certainly not least, the 70’s look.  Let’s take a peek.

Close to the Vest

There are several trends blooming for Spring 2011.

Fashion for this spring and summer are being influenced by the 70’s floppy hats, crocheted vests, bell bottoms, platform sandals and natural makeup.

We are also being  influenced by 90′s grunge. Flannel shirts never go out of style, don’t be afraid to pair you favorite one with cargo pants, combat boots, or ripped jeans. Although this comeback was started a few years ago, expect it to hit  full force this year.

Fringe, denim, crocheted, and suede vests are all about this season. Consistent with both 90′s and 70′s trends, you can take a vest and style it to channel either a hippie-chic or grungy vibe. Wear it with a patterned dress if you’re daring, or a white t-shirts and pair of jeans for a more tame look.
