The United States has always had a love affair with the colors red, white and blue especially in the summer months. The colors together are always clean and crisp. Although they often stir nautical inspiration, they also tug at our all American heartstrings. With both Great Britain and U.S. flags sporting the colors is it such a surprise that the hues are everywhere on our fashion palette.
It seems that everyone is throwing Ralph Lauren under the bus for his choice to let China manufacture his design of the U.S. Olympic uniform. Although they are extremely attractive, I must also push Mr. Lauren under those wheels. Mr. Lauren’s styles have for years been the epitome of the American way of life. His ads included some of the most homespun iconic images. But, has the line been manufactured in China long before the Olympics ? Seems so according to a lot of news sites out there. I was recently with a family member that is an ex-Marine (if there really is ever an ex) and Vietnam War Veteran. He is also a member of the NRA. A pocket knife he purchased from the NRA was made in China and a U.S. Marine’s cap and t-shirt he also purchased were manufactured in Vietnam. This is a slap in the face to all hard working Americans and a disastrous trade policy that has cost us millions of jobs. Of course this is just my opinion.

I absolutely love the ombre trend, hair & clothing. This photo is our street pick of the week and it comes from our friend Ryan at Fashables.com

Anyone that knows me, knows I am fixated with sunglasses. They make a big statement and say alot about the person wearing them. This year I am in L O V E with my Tom Ford – Nikita’s. Sometimes you just want to be a spy, or at least look like one 🙂
Their are many beautiful styles out there this year, and many are surprisingly resonably priced. You can also find “look-a-likes” of many designers even more on the cheap. Yes, the sun does rise on my beautiful east coast !
Unless you have been living under a rock, candy colors are the rage for this summer. I for one am loving this trend. After seeing blacks and jewel tones from the winter my eyes are feasting on these colors. And, fortunately they look good on everyone. But do remember, just because they make it in your size doesn’t mean you should wear it. Keep your body shape in mind as pick the silhouette. Summer sherbert, colorful cocktails and sugary candies….mmmmm…how sweet it is !
One of my favorite characters on television is Barney Stinson of the How I Met Your Mother situation comedy fame. Barney is a card-carrying narcissistic womanizer, but I find him extremely funny and surprisingly loveable. One of the best things I like about him is his impeccable sense of style. More young professional men could take a clue from this guy. In ‘true’ life, Neil Patrick Harris is just as dashing. Women, help your man with his style choices and if you are style challenged ask your Mum, if she is also style challenged hook your guy up with a few men’s magazines. I like GQ personally. Also Details, Nylon for Guys and Men’s Vogue are among the tops of my list. Men, it’s uber important to look your best for your career, the lady in your life and mostly for yourself. When you look in the mirror, do yourself a favor and quote our friend Barney : “when you get sad, stop being sad and be awesome instead!”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEIL !
I absolutely love Kristen Stewart but her July Vanity Fair interview left me asking myself why such a horrid vocabulary from her. We all know she likes her bad ass label, but really ?! No matter how cute or how hard one is, having a potty mouth is a definate turn off. K, please girl, tone down the language, at least in the press.
July 2012 Vanity Fair
A glamourous Kristen Stewart is featured on the cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair magazine. In the interview Kristen talks about her haters and having her photograph being taken.
On her commitment to imperfection: “I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph. I get some serious shit about it. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’m proud of it.
“If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, ‘What an actress! What a faker!’ That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like shit in half my photos, and I don’t give a fuck. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, ‘She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest.’ I don’t care about the voracious, starving shit eaters who want to turn truth into shit.”
Struggling to control your weight?
Maybe it’s your sleep schedule instead of your diet that’s to blame, says Los Angeles-based celebrity nutritionist Ashley Koff.
“There’s such strong evidence now that inadequate sleep boosts hunger and slows your metabolism, both of which can have a huge impact on weight,” Koff says. Fight back by making sure you’re getting quality shut-eye night after night.
