Stars In Our Eyes

The United States has always had a love affair with the colors red, white and blue especially in the summer months.  The colors together are always clean and crisp. Although they often stir nautical inspiration, they also tug at our all American heartstrings. With both Great Britain and U.S. flags sporting the colors is it such a surprise that the hues are everywhere on our fashion palette.

Let The Games Begin !

It seems that everyone is throwing Ralph Lauren under the bus for his choice to let China manufacture his design of the U.S. Olympic uniform.  Although they are extremely attractive, I must also push Mr. Lauren under those wheels. Mr. Lauren’s styles have for years been the epitome of the American way of life. His ads included some of the most homespun iconic images. But, has the line been manufactured in China long before the Olympics ? Seems so according to a lot of news sites out there. I was recently with a family member that is an ex-Marine (if there really is ever an ex) and Vietnam War Veteran. He is also a member of the NRA. A pocket knife he purchased from the NRA was made in China and a U.S. Marine’s cap and t-shirt he also purchased were manufactured in Vietnam. This is a slap in the face to all hard working Americans and a disastrous trade policy that has cost us millions of jobs. Of course this is just my opinion.

Steal The Look

Selena Gomez

Multiple starlets have been spotted wearing the Ali Ro Beaded Bow Striped Top over the past few months, but we think Selena wore it best by adding the pop of red in her scarf.  Her Dog Tags are oh so spot on too.

We aren't sure what Selena's Dog Tags say but they as well as the red knit scarf are easy to find in a wide range of prices.

Close to the Vest

There are several trends blooming for Spring 2011.

Fashion for this spring and summer are being influenced by the 70’s floppy hats, crocheted vests, bell bottoms, platform sandals and natural makeup.

We are also being  influenced by 90′s grunge. Flannel shirts never go out of style, don’t be afraid to pair you favorite one with cargo pants, combat boots, or ripped jeans. Although this comeback was started a few years ago, expect it to hit  full force this year.

Fringe, denim, crocheted, and suede vests are all about this season. Consistent with both 90′s and 70′s trends, you can take a vest and style it to channel either a hippie-chic or grungy vibe. Wear it with a patterned dress if you’re daring, or a white t-shirts and pair of jeans for a more tame look.

Pull It Off

When one reaches a certain age, their fashion has to move into that age.  Unfortunately many celebrities try to hold on to their youth a little longer than what I think is acceptable.  What’s your take on it ?  Are these celebrities too old to pull it off ?

Jane Fonda. A Fedora, Scarf AND Ripped Jeans ?

Ricky Lauren. Taking Ralph's Menswear look a Little Too Far ?

Anna Dello Russo. What the (beep) is on your head ?

Coco. Enough with the Push Ups.

Ticket To The Stars

The Original Celebrity Impersonators Convention is this week,  February 21 – 25, 2011  at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas.

The Reel Awards 20th Annual event is an entertaining two-hour show that features guest Emcees and Live Performances similar to other Hollywood style awards shows;  to recognize the talents and achievements of outstanding individuals or groups who perform in the field of impersonation.  If you didn’t get an invitation to the Oscars or if you missed the Grammy’s then this is your chance to experience the fun of a Hollywood style awards show!  Sounds like a lot of fun to me.

By The Short Hairs

Every year when the weather starts to warm a little, my thoughts turn to getting a new haircut.  I have had so many looks over the years, and some I that I wore a hat for several weeks to wait for the initial grow out. Short haircuts are stylish and make a statement about you, and some women look amazing in them.  I personally do not.  Even major fashion icons and celebrities have turned to short hair.  Let’s have a look and maybe you may see yourself in one of these cuts this spring.

Ms. Germanotta shared that performing on stage is like having a massive orgasm for her:

“Sometimes, being onstage is like having sex with my fans. They’re the only people on the planet who in an instant can make me just lose it.”

Hot Looks In A Cold City

Baby it’s cold outside !   While some have a little more to work with,  celebrities are just like the rest of us when it comes to keeping warm.  Making winter looks sexy while walking the streets can be difficult.  Luckily, these ladies pull it off.  Grab a little inspiration.

Legendary Child (Odds-n-Ends)

From Aerosmith’s first released self-titled album Aerosmith in 1972, Steven Tyler has pushed the fashion boundary. The ‘Bad Boys From Boston” front man reportedly started with a macramé shirt and head scarf, which lead to “Dude Looks Like A Lady”, and the style stuck with him. Mr. Tyler has evolved somewhat in his fashion wearing and supporting Roberto Cavalli among others. Has he tamed his look for American Idol ? Maybe the look, but definitely not the attitude and this is what we love about him, isn’t it ?
